Status: Early Release
Available To: Customers using Call Management
App Required: Latest version of Happy Property Maintenance

Technicians can now call residents directly from the app without exposing their personal phone number. Outbound calls display the property’s call-forwarding number on caller ID — helping increase resident answer rates and protect technician privacy.

Benefits of Enabling

  • Keep technician phone numbers private

  • Increase the likelihood residents answer

  • Automatically log calls in task history

  • No setup, codes, or extra training required

  • Works online and offline

How It Works

  1. Technician taps “Call Resident” in the mobile app

  2. The call is routed through the property's forwarding number

  3. The resident sees that number and is more likely to pick up

  4. The call is logged to the task’s activity history

How to Enable

  1. Go to manage.happyco.com

  2. Navigate to: Settings > Admin Center > Release Updates

  3. Search for: “Masked Call Routing for Technicians”

  4. Open the release, then click "Enable" at the bottom

Call Masking will be enabled automatically for technicians calling residents from the app if:

  • Call Management is enabled for the property

  • Technicians are on the latest version of the Happy Property Maintenance app

The resident will receive the call from the property's Call Forwarding Number set up in Call Management.

How to View the Call Forwarding Number

To see which number residents will see when receiving a masked call:

  1. Go to the Profiles tab in Call Management

  2. Click the Call Forwarding dropdown

  3. The number displayed is the one residents will see on their caller ID

We recommend asking residents to save this number as a contact so it’s not marked as spam — especially when onsite staff needs to reach them.

Enabling Call Masking Option (For non-Call Management customers)

If Call Management is NOT enabled, technicians can still use Masked Calling (U.S. only).

  • The resident will see a generic "Private Number" or "Unknown Caller"

  • If the "Mask Call" option doesn't appear in the app, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your phone's Settings > General > Language & Region

  2. Ensure the Region is set to United States

  3. If already set to U.S., try switching to another region temporarily, then switch back

  4. Restart your device

After completing these steps, the 'mask call' option should appear when placing calls to residents through the app.
