This article covers how to navigate, add, edit, remove, and reorder Sections within an Inspection.

Difference between Sections and Items

Inspection Templates, the basis of your inspection, have three elements.

  • Overview: short text fields at the top of an inspection.

  • Sections: groupings of items which are the bulk of your Inspection

  • Summary: longer text fields at the bottom of your inspection

Sections often equate to rooms (eg Bedroom, Dining Room, Lounge Room), in contrast items are elements in the room (such as walls, flooring, doors, etc).

Sections in your Inspection screen are marked with gray titlebar of each room and it's name for example Entry, Bedroom, or Kitchen and the list of room items underneath.

Customizing Sections and Items in your base template will mean the changes flow through to ever inspection started from that template. This covered in our Help Article Templates Editing the Layout of your Template.

You can however, customize the sections and items in your inspection on a one-off basis. For example, you can have your base template setup to have three bedrooms, a lounge room, kitchen and dining room. Then, when you're at an inspection of a two bedroom property you may want to remove one of the bedrooms and reorder the layout to better reflect the layout of the property and the way you walk through it. In this case, you can follow the steps outlined below to customize the layout of the inspection.

This is very helpful feature because you can then copy this inspection the next time you're inspecting the property and all these changes will flow through to the new inspection, as well as photos, ratings and notes you may want to bring into it, see our Help Article: Copying a Previous Inspection for details on this.

Reordering the Layout of Sections in your Inspection
