Overview

You can now download any photo from an inspection directly to your phone's camera roll. Open an inspection item that has a photo attached, tap the gallery, select the photos you want, and download them to your device.

How to enable it

This feature is released via Release Updates. To turn it on for your account:

  1. In HappyCo Manage, go to Admin Centre > Release Updates.
  2. Search for the Save Photos to Camera Roll release update 
  3. Switch it on.

Once enabled, the feature is available to your team on next HPMA sync.

How to disable it

Return to Admin Centre > Release Updates, find the Save Photos to Camera Roll release update, and switch it off.

How to download photos to your camera roll

  1. Open an inspection.
  2. Navigate to an item that has a photo attached.
  3. Tap the camera icon.
  4. Tap the gallery at the bottom left.
  5. Tap Select.
  6. Select the images you want to download.
  7. Tap Download.

The selected photos save to your device's camera roll. Photos still sync to HappyCo as they do today — downloading to camera roll is in addition to the standard sync, not a replacement for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the photos still synced to HappyCo?

Yes. Downloading photos to your camera roll is in addition to the standard HappyCo sync. Nothing changes about how photos are stored or shared inside the app.

Where do I find the photos on my phone?

Downloaded photos appear in your device's standard camera roll — the same place your phone stores any other photo. On iOS that's the Photos app; on Android, the Gallery or Photos app.

Can I download photos from multiple inspection items at once?

In this release, the download flow is item-by-item — open an item, tap the camera, open the gallery, select, download. Bulk download across multiple items is not in this release.

Does this require my phone to have permission to write to the camera roll?

Yes. iOS and Android both prompt for Photos / Storage permission the first time you download. If you didn't grant permission, the download won't complete — update the permission in your device settings (Settings → HPMA → Photos on iOS; equivalent on Android).

Does this work offline?

Yes. Saving to your camera roll is a local device action and works whether or not you're online.
