Photo annotation allows you to draw or add text directly onto a photo. Annotations are available from inspections, work orders, and project tasks.

 Originals are preserved

Annotating a photo creates a duplicate; it will not affect the original photo.

 Reporting

Both the annotated photos and the original photos will appear in your inspection reports.

Accessing the annotation tool from an inspection

1Open the camera on an item

Open an inspection and tap the camera icon on an inspection item.

2Take or select a photo

Take a new photo or tap an existing photo thumbnail to open the gallery.

3Open full screen

Tap a photo in the gallery to open it full screen and begin annotating.

Accessing the annotation tool from a work order or project task

1Open the Photos tab

Open a work order or project task and tap Photos in the tab navigation.

2Select or add a photo

Tap an existing photo, or tap Add a Photo or Document to take a new photo.

3Open full screen

Tap the photo to open it full screen and begin annotating.

 Tip

Viewing and annotating works the same way as it does in inspections.

Using the annotation tools

When you tap a photo in the gallery, it opens full screen with an annotation toolbar located above the image.

  • Pencil icon: Draw a shape or add text.
  • Circle icon: Change the color of any text or shape that you add.
  • Paint brush icon: Change the thickness of any line or shape that you add.
  • Backwards arrow icon: Undo your last action.
  • X icon: Clear all changes.

Saving and exiting

Once you have finished marking up the photo, save your work before leaving the screen.

  • To save: Tap the save icon in the top right corner.
  • To exit: Tap the back arrow at the top left. If you have unsaved changes, you will be prompted to either save or discard them.

 Don't lose your markup

The X icon clears all changes. If you exit with unsaved changes, you will be prompted to save or discard — tap the save icon first to keep your annotations.

Both the annotated photo and the original photo appear in your inspection reports.

How do I undo a mistake?

Tap the backwards arrow icon to undo your last action, or the X icon to clear all changes.
