The Camera-First Inspection feature reimagines how inspections start — through the camera, not the form.

This mobile-only mode lets you capture, rate, and annotate photos in one continuous flow, which drastically reduces scrolling, tapping between fields, and switching screens. Photos, ratings, notes, and markups all sync just like a traditional inspection form, so nothing about your data changes—just the way you work.

Take the interactive tour

How to enable Camera First Inspections

  • In Manage, Go to Settings > Admin Center > Release Updates and enable Camera First Inspections

  • The inspection launches directly into camera view, enabling instant photo capture with less scrolling and fewer screen switches.
  • Apply ratings as you normally would.
  • A check mark will appear to show that the item is complete.

  • Tap the Notes icon (next to the take photo button) to add notes. Notes work the same as the original experience: type your note and tap “Done” to save.

  • You can exit the camera-first experience at any time by tapping the back button. You’ll need to do this for some actions, such as “Completing” an inspection.

That’s it—your inspection data will continue to sync and behave just like it does in the traditional form-based workflow, with a faster, camera-led way to capture what you see on site.
