Product: HappyCo Property Management Application (HPMA)
Available in HPMA Release 2.16.0 onward
Overview
The Property Picker is the first screen you see when you open the HPMA app β it's where you choose which properties you're working on. With HPMA 2.16.0, the Property Picker has been rebuilt to be faster, clearer, and packed with three new ways to get to the properties you actually want to work on:
- β Star your most-used properties for one-tap access
- π Create and edit groups without leaving the picker
- β Multi-select properties for a temporary session
This article walks through everything you can do with the new picker.
How to enable it
New Property Picker is released via Release Updates. To turn it on for your account:
- In HappyCo Manage, go to Admin Centre > Release Updates.
- Search for New Property Picker.
- Switch it on.
Once enabled, New Property Picker will be available on your next HPMA refresh.
How to disable it
Return to Admin Centre > Release Updates, find New Property Picker (Mobile), and switch it off.
Starring properties
Starring is the fastest way to get to the properties you use most often.
- On the Property Picker screen, find any property you want to star.
- Tap the star icon on the property card.
- The star fills in, and the property is added to a new Starred section at the top of the picker. The original property card stays exactly where it is β starring adds a shortcut, it doesn't move the property.
Tap the filled star again to remove the property from the Starred section. The original property card is unaffected. Star as many properties as you like β there's no cap on starred properties.
Note: Starring is per-device at first release. Properties you star on your phone won't appear starred on another device until you star them there too. Cross-device sync is on the way.
Selecting multiple properties for a session
Use multi-select when you want to focus on a temporary set of properties β for example, the properties you're visiting today, or a colleague's patch you're covering.
- On the Property Picker screen, find the region you want to select from.
- Tap Select beside a region's heading.
- Tap the checkbox on each property you want to include. To select every property in the region, tap Select All. You can select properties across multiple regions.
- As you select, a bottom sheet shows your running count.
- When you're ready, tap View Selection β the app filters to those properties for the session.
If you change your mind: tap Clear All to start over, or Cancel to return to the picker without applying any selection.
Note: Multi-select is for the current session only. When you leave the picker, the selection is cleared. If you want to save this set for next time, use Create Group instead.
Creating a group
Groups let you save a named set of properties so you can come back to it instantly.
- In the Groups section, tap the + beside the heading.
- Give your group a name.
- Tap the checkbox on each property you want in the group, or tap Select All to add everything.
- Tap Confirm in the bottom sheet to save.
Your new group appears in the Groups section. Tap it any time to filter the app to those properties.
Editing a group
You can rename a group or change which properties are in it without recreating it.
- On the group's card, tap the (overflow) menu.
- Choose Edit Group.
- Update the group name, add or remove properties, then tap Save.
To discard your changes, tap Cancel instead.
Deleting a group
You can delete a group.
- On the group's card, tap the (overflow) menu.
- Choose Delete Group.
- Confirm Delete or Cancel.
The 5,000 unit limit
Each group or selection has a 5,000 unit cap. If your selection passes that, you'll see a message: "5,000 unit limit. Please keep selection under this limit."
To proceed:
- Tap Clear to start fresh, or
- Unselect properties until you're back below the limit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do my existing groups still work?
Yes β all your existing groups carry over to the new picker. You can edit them with the new in-line editor.
Will my starred properties sync between my devices?
Not at first release. Starring is currently per-device β sign into HPMA on another phone or tablet and your stars will start fresh there. Cross-device sync of stars (and groups) is in active development.
Will my groups or starred properties appear in the web Property Picker?
Not at the moment. The mobile and web Property Pickers are separate today, and changes you make in one don't appear in the other. We're working on bringing them together.
What's the difference between starring and creating a group?
Starring is for individual properties you access often β one tap, always at the top. A group is a named collection of multiple properties you want to come back to as a set.
What's the difference between multi-select and creating a group?
Multi-select is temporary β it filters the app for the current session and is cleared when you leave the picker. A group is permanent β it stays in your Groups section until you delete it.
Can I star regions or whole groups?
No β only individual properties can be starred. To save a custom set of properties, use Create Group.
What happens if I'm not on HPMA 2.16.0 yet?
You'll continue using the previous picker until you update the app from your app store.
How do I get back to the previous picker?
If you'd prefer to keep using the previous picker:
- Tap your profile picture in the top corner.
- Open User Settings.
- Find the option to revert to the classic picker.
You can switch back to the new picker at any time using the same setting.
