Purpose:
This article covers the various actions that can be used to manage documents within the Document Management feature of Happy Property
There are two different ways to access the Actions menu for documents:
- Use the Ellipsis placed on the far right of the file entry on the listing screen
- Use the Ellipsis placed on the top right of the Details panel next to the Close icon
Document Actions:
Open a Document
The behavior of the Open action will depend on your browser and the selected document's file type
- Image and PDF files should generate a browser preview when the Open option is selected
- Other formats will generally prompt you to download the file:
- Select the folder in your computer to download the file. The 'Downloads' folder is typically the default location.
Share a Document via Public URL
To share a Document via Public URL select the Copy Link option from the Actions menu:
- First, set a timeframe for the link to the document to expire
- Use this option only if you want to restrict the amount of time a document can be accessible via public link, otherwise keep the “Never” option as default
- Next, click the 'Get Link' button on the bottom right of the dialog
- The link will be generated above with a 'Copy' button
- Once you complete the Copy action, you can close the dialog using the 'Done' button at the bottom or the 'X' icon on the top right
Share a Document via Email
To share a Document via Email select the Share option from the Actions menu:
- First, set a timeframe for the link to the document to expire
- Use this option only if you want to restrict the amount of time a document can be accessible via public link, otherwise keep the “Never” option as default
- Next, enter the email addresses you wish to send a link to the document to and click Send Email
- Valid email addresses will display as a button

- If you entered an incorrect email address, you can remove it with the 'X' on the right of the email
- Once you are finished, you can close the dialog using the 'Done' button at the bottom or the close icon on the top right, this will trigger the email to your contacts.
- Finally, your email contacts will receive an email indicating that you have shared a file with them where a link will be contained indicating the expiry date and the file name.
Move a Document
To move a Document select the Move option from the Actions menu
- First, use the menu to locate the folder you want to move the selected document to
- Next, confirm that you want to move the document by clicking the 'Yes, Move Document' button
- Your document will now be in the new location
Delete a Document
To Delete a Document select the Delete option from the Actions menu
- Confirm that you want to delete the document by clicking the 'Yes, Delete Document' button
- NOTE: The current functionality does not allow for recovery of accidentally deleted folders. If you accidentally delete a document you still need, please reach out to support@happy.co
